THE ROLE OF AURORA A-KINASE IN POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE

Abstract

In this study we have demonstrated that Aurora A (AurA) coimmunoprecipitates with polycystin-2 (РС2) in mammalian cells and phosphorylates PC2 in vitro that might suggest biological role for AurA in the regulation of PC2 function. Inhibitors of AurA increase the length of primary cilium reduced in PKD cysts and that inhibition of AurA may have therapeutic benefit in PKD. Overall, the current data support the idea that AurA might be involved in the pathogenesis of PKD.
