<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Aim. Analysis of the history of the formation of green infrastructure in the cities of the north of Western Siberia as a factor in their sustainable development.Methodology. The main research methods were based on the analysis of research works, urban planning documentation, reports, statistical data and other kinds of archival sources, as well as on thematic interviews taken from specialists who were directly involved in greening cities and their "ordinary" residents. In addition, the article reflected the author's direct observations of the development and use of green infrastructure in the cities of the north of Western Siberia.Results. From the standpoint of historical geoecology, analysis of the features of the development of the urban green infrastructure of the north of Western Siberia was undertaken by means of an integrated study of natural, climatic and anthropogenic factors. Main ecosystem functions of the green infrastructure have been identified in context of the problems of sustainable development of the cities built in a subarctic climate.Research implications. The theoretical significance of the study based on an interdisciplinary approach aimed at studying socio-environmental interactions in the process of forming the green infrastructure of cities in the north of Western Siberia. The practical significance of the study is that on its basis it is possible to create individual strategies for the development of green infrastructure, taking into account specific criteria for the sustainable development of the cities built in the natural and climatic conditions of the Subarctic.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>зелёная инфраструктура</kwd><kwd>север Западной Сибири</kwd><kwd>историческая геоэкология</kwd><kwd>устойчивое развитие</kwd><kwd>социально-экологические взаимодействия</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>green infrastructure</kwd><kwd>north of Western Siberia</kwd><kwd>historical geoecology</kwd><kwd>sustainable development</kwd><kwd>socio-environmental interactions</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа выполнена Институтом криосферы Земли ТюмНЦ СО РАН в рамках государственного задания Министерства науки и высшего образования Российской Федерации (тема № FWRZ-2021-0012).</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The research was carried by the Earth Cryosphere Institute of the Tyumen Scientific Centre of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences within the framework of the state assignment of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (project no.
